CROMWELL, CT — A Connecticut parole officer escaped injury when her state-issued vehicle was rear-ended on a stretch of Interstate 91 in Cromwell Wednesday, state police said.

The crash took place in heavy traffic at 3:49 p.m., state police said.

According to a crash report, the 31-year-old parole officer was traveling north in a Ford Taurus registered to the state Department of Administrative Services just prior to Exit 21. A 2008 Acura TL with an 18-year-old Windsor Locks man driving then slammed into the back of the Taurus and evaded the scene, according to a crash report.

The driver was later located and charged with evading responsibility and failure to drive at a reasonable distance apart resulting in a motor vehicle accident, state police said.
