Sept. 15, 2025 (Middletown, Conn.) — On Sept. 12, Stop & Shop presented a $12,500 donation to the CT State Middlesex food pantry, also known as the Magic Food Bus. This grant will assist the pantry in providing nutritious options and basic necessities to students in need.

“The funds from Stop & Shop are crucial to the operating expenses of our pantry. With the recent relocation of the pantry to the lower level of Founders Hall, we have seen a tremendous increase in the student usage. The $12,500 will assist us in providing our students with fresh, ready-to-eat snack and meal options. Our pantry relies on our community partners, such as Stop and Shop, to help feed our students and their families so that they can be successful in classes,” said Associate Dean of Student Affairs Sara Hanson, who attended the check presentation at the newly renovated Middletown store along with Amy Lagerstrom, coordinator of the pantry.

The food pantry aims to meet students where they are, ensuring access to support services on campus and at home. CT State Middlesex works to reduce the stigma of seeking help while providing essential food resources.
