MIDDLETOWN, CT — A motorcycle rider was airlifted to an area hospital after a dirt bike and car collided in Middletown Sunday night.

According to a crash report, at 8:33 p.m., Middletown police responded to the intersection of East Street and Bystreck Drive for an accident involving a Nissan Altima and a dirt bike.

The driver of the motorcycle sauffered serious injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital via Life Star helicopter, according to a crash report.

The operator of the Nissan was not injured, police said.

East Street was closed between Glenwood Terrace and Miner Street while the scene was cleared.

The crash is currently under investigation and the identity of those involved were not being released as of Monday morning. Anyone with information on the collision is being encouraged to contact the Middletown Police Department Traffic Division at 860-638-4061.
