MIDDLETOWN, CT – Independence Day is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on in and around Middletown for 2023.
We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Middletown, so you can start planning now.
This year, Middletown will hold its annual Fireworks Festival on Saturday, July 1, at 5 p.m., with the fireworks display set off directly from a barge on the Connecticut River starting just after dark, around 9:30 p.m.

A rain date has been set for Sunday, July 2.
The festival will take place along the Connecticut River at Harbor Park and on the front lawn of the City’s Municipal Building, 245 DeKoven Dr.

Other July 4 festivities around Middletown include:
- Madison’s annual Independence Day Fireworks on July 2 start at 9:30 p.m. They also hold an Independence Day Parade on July 4, beginning at 10 a.m.
- Guilford is holding a Community Band Concert and Community Fireworks on July 8. The concert band starts at 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the Town Green, and the fireworks show begins at 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the Guilford Fairgrounds.
