OLD SAYBROOK, CT - The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, “the Kate”, welcomes rockabilly bassist and original Stray Cat, Lee Rocker, on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 7:30 pm.
Lee Rocker made his mark singing, playing, standing on, spinning and rocking his giant upright bass as a founding member of The Stray Cats. Along with Brian Setzer and Slim Jim Phantom, the band earned Grammy nominations, sold over 10 million albums, and garnered 23 gold and platinum certified records worldwide.
From the cover of Rolling Stone magazine to touring with the actual Rolling Stones, Lee Rocker has done it all. In addition to The Stray Cats, Rocker has recorded or performed with Willie Nelson, Leon Russell, and Carl Perkins. In 1982, he and his father Stanley Drucker, a classical clarinetist with the New York Philharmonic, both received Grammy nominations – something that had only occurred twice in Grammy history.
