Middletown Cops: Gun Brought To School Was A Fake
A school in Middletown was in a brief lockdown after a student brought in a fake gun, police said.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Police in Middletown Wednesday wanted to make it clear that a gun brought to a local school a day earlier was a fake and posed no "public safety concern."
The situation unraveled at 10"49 a.m. Tuesday when Middletown officers were called to Bielefield Elementary School at 70 Maynard St. for a student claiming to have a firearm in a backpack.
Officers placed the school in brief lockdown, but quickly determined that the student possessed a facsimile firearm and not a real gun, according to a police statement.
