Fireworks Festival Postponed In Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Middletown’s Fireworks Festival has been postponed to the rain date of Sunday, July 3, officials announced Friday.

“We look forward to beautiful weather all afternoon and evening starting at 5:00 pm on Sunday, with fireworks starting at 9:30,” officials wrote in a news release.

The festival will take place along the Connecticut River at Harbor Park, and on the front lawn of the City’s Municipal Building at 245 DeKoven Drive.

“The festival showcase will present a dazzling fireworks display that is set off directly from a barge on the Connecticut River,” officials wrote in a news release. “The fireworks festival is a family-friendly event that typically draws large crowds to the downtown area of Middletown.”

The festival will kick off at 5 p.m. with live music, family festivities, and numerous food vendors throughout the harbor area and along DeKoven Drive.

Fireworks will commence just after dark, at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Police previously announced the following road closures and traffic information:

ROAD CLOSURES

DeKoven Drive at Washington Street: (no southbound traffic) 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.

Court Street: (between Melilli Plaza and DeKoven Drive): 2 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Harbor Drive: 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.

DeKoven Drive: 7p.m. – 11 p.m.

Dingwall Drive: closed between Metro Square and Dekoven Drive 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.

MLK Way: closed between Metro Square and Dekoven Drive 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.

River Road: closed between Harbor Drive and Walnut Street 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Eastern Dr.: between Silver St. and River Rd (southbound traffic only) 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.
