Diwali is a celebration of light over darkness, good over evil, and education over ignorance. Diwali is a Hindu religious holiday and one of India's largest and most historically celebrated holidays. Said Florsheim, "It is an honor to present this Diwali proclamation, and we are excited to make this an annual occasion in Middletown. Many members of the Hindu faith reside in our community, and Middletown is proudly home to the Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Temple, located on Training Hill Road and frequented by Hindus and others from across our state and beyond. The city of Middletown continues to strive to be an inclusive and welcoming community, and it is important we recognize holidays and cultural traditions that are celebrated by city residents of all backgrounds and faiths. Diwali recognizes the triumph of goodness, and we can all appreciate that. To all who celebrate, happy Diwali."
