Middletown Teen Facing 8 Charges After High-Speed Antics In Hartford
A high-speed pursuit on I-91 led to charges against a Middletown man, state police said.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown teen is facing eight criminal charges after a high-speed pursuit on Interstate-91, state police said.
At 7:02 a.m. Wednesday, a state trooper was patrolling Interstate 91 northbound in the area of Exit 25 in Hartford when a gray Honda Accord with Connecticut plates sped by while weaving in and out of traffic and nearly striking other vehicles, according to an incident report.
The trooper tried to stop the vehicle near Exit 27, but the driver accelerated and reached speeds of up to 109 MPH in a 55 mph zone, state police said.

The trooper broke off the pursuit and the Honda continued traveling northbound at a high rate of speed, according to an incident report.
After obtaining the registration details from the vehicle's plate, troopers responded to a residence in Middletown, where they spoke with family members of the driver, who confirmed his identity as 19-year-old Xavier Daniels, of Middletown, according to an incident report.

They informed Troopers that Daniels was currently at work and provided Troopers with his workplace location. Daniels' license was under suspension and the registration plate on the Honda belonged to another vehicle, state police said. the Honda was unregistered and uninsured.
Daniels was subsequently located at his place of work in Windsor and was arrested without incident. Daniels was transported to Troop H and charged with:
- Driving an unregistered motor vehicle
- Improper use of registration
- Driving a motor vehicle without insurance
- Driving while under suspension
- Reckless driving
- Disobeying a signal of an officer
- Engaging police in a pursuit
- Interfering with an officer
Daniels was released on a $10,000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Hartford Superior Court on Dec. 16.
