Obituary: David A. Messer, Sr., 77, of Middletown
David was a dedicated police officer for the city of Middletown and proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
MIDDLETOWN, CT - (From Biega Funeral Home) David A. Messer, Sr., 77, of Middletown, husband of Carol (Carbonero) Messer, died Friday March 4, 2022 at Middlesex Hospital.
He was born in Middletown, the son of the late Ermont and Marjorie (Hunt) Messer, Sr.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Dave served with the U.S. Navy.
Prior to his retirement, he was a police officer with the city of Middletown.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club 681 and the East Haddam American Legion Post 156
In addition to his wife, Dave is survived by his sons, Daniel Messer and his wife Tammy of Middletown and Dennis Messer and his wife Wilma of Lehigh Acres, FL; sister, Dawn Messer of Middletown; step-son, Richard Haczynski of Rocky Hill; grandchildren, Kristi Sharkevich and her husband Rob, Joseph Orsini, Melissa Messer and Michelle Messer; great-grandchildren, Jourdan and Adriana; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by a son, David Messer, Jr.; brothers, Ermont Messer, Jr. and Wayne Messer; step-daughter, Sheri DiVicino.
Graveside services with military honors will be held Friday (Mar. 11th) at 10 a.m. at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.
