Obituary: Raymond Moscaritolo, 86, of Middletown
Raymond was a standout athlete in his youth and was praised for his work as counselor with the Junior Republic and as a CT state employee.
MIDDLETOWN, CT - (From Biega Funeral Home) Raymond Moscaritolo, 86, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2022
He was born in Torrington, son of the late Carmine and Philomena (Silano) Moscaritolo. Growing up he played baseball, basketball and ran track.
A veteran of the Korean War, Ray served in the 66th tactical recon wing of the US Air Force. He was well-received for his work as counselor with the Junior Republic and as a CT State employee.
He spent part of his retirement in West Springfield, MA where he loved to visit the Air Force Museum, the Basketball Hall of Fame, and Riverside Amusement Park in Agawam with family.
He was a member of the YMCA, VFW, and the American Legion, Post 0200.
To make a short a long story, as gramps would say, he loved watching boxing, baseball, football, rooting for the Yankees, Giants and Mets.
He enjoyed war films, classic horror movies, listening to Frank Sinatra or his Golden Oldies, and especially loved watching his grandchildren’s sports games and recitals.
He always inspired his grandchildren that they could be anything they wanted growing up and found comfort in his faith.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Moscaritolo of East Berlin, Annette Vinci of Higganum, his grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and also several nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by his son, Paul Moscaritolo, and his brothers, Carmine, Louis, and Michael Moscaritolo.
Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday (Mar. 7th) at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Elm St., Middletown. Burial, with military honors, will be held at the State Veterans’ Cemetery, Middletown.
Friends may call on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown.
