Sentence Rendered In Brutal 2020 Killing In Middletown
At the sentencing, a judge described the crimes as "cruel, inhumane, and unconscionable."

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A sentence has been rendered in a brutal murder in Middletown in 2020.
Middlesex Judicial District State's Attorney Michael A. Gailor, announced Monday that Judge Laura F. Baldini has sentenced William Bigaud, age 42, of Cromwell, to serve 70 years in prison for "unlawfully entering the home of his children's mother and stabbing her to death in front of the children" in June five years ago.
On Oct. 7, Bigaud was found guilty by a jury in Superior Court in Middletown to murder, home invasion, first-degree burglary and risk of injury to a child.

He was sentenced to serve 50 years in prison for the crime of murder and an additional 20 years for the crime of home invasion, Gailor said.
In sentencing Bigaud, Judge Baldini described his crimes as “cruel, inhumane, and unconscionable.”

Evidence at trial showed that, after fatally stabbing the victim on June 8, 2020, Bigaud fled the state.
He was apprehended on June 10, 2020, after a high-speed chase by authorities in LaGrange, Georgia.
