Stabbing Incident Causes Life-Threatening Injuries, 1 Charged: Police

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown woman is accused of stabbing a victim, leaving them with life-threatening injuries, Middletown Police Department said.
Taquanis Sessoms, 33, of Middletown, is accused of stabbing the victim, police said.
On Sept. 26, a stabbing victim arrived at Middlesex Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The victim was then immediately transported to Hartford Hospital for surgery due to the injuries sustained during the stabbing, police said.
The victim was stabilized and ultimately survived the incident, police said.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries and the initial lack of details surrounding the incident, the Middletown Police Major Investigations Unit began an investigation, police said.
After several weeks of interviews and evidence collection, detectives determined the stabbing was domestic in nature, police said.
Probable cause was developed, and an arrest warrant was obtained for Sessoms, police said.
Sessoms was located on Oct. 25 and charged with 1st-degree assault, police said.
Sessoms posted a court-set $250,000 surety bond and was issued a court date of Oct. 26.
