Swap Shack Reopens In Middletown: What You Need To Know
Middletown Recycling said that due to misuse, the Swap Shack will only be open when a volunteer is present.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — After being closed for several months, Middletown’s Swap Shack has reopened.
The Swap Shack at the Recycling Center will reopen with limited hours on Dec. 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Other open dates are Wednesday, Dec. 6, from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 20, from noon to 2 p.m.

Due to misuse, the building will only be open when a volunteer is present.
The Swap Shack is a place to bring new or gently used items to keep out of the trash and give them a second life.

Middletown Recycling said they only accept items in good condition and do not accept broken items, items with missing pieces, adult clothing, food, hazardous water, large bulky items, car seats, cribs, and other questionable items.
Residents do not need to bring an item to take an item, but they must have a resident's pass to enter the recycling center.
Middletown Recycling said if residents don’t have a pass for Dec. 2, they can still go check out the Swap Shack but need to make sure to get a pass after at the Department of Public Works or online at https://www.middletownct.gov/951/Middletown-Recycling-Center.
