4 Charged In I-95 Street Takeover Event Near Milford: State Police

State police said four people charged following a street takeover event on Interstate 95 between New Haven and Milford.

MILFORD, CT — Four people were charged Sunday afternoon following a street takeover event on Interstate 95 between New Haven and Milford, according to state police.

In a news release, state police said troopers from Troop G-Bridgeport were actively monitoring a Palestinian demonstration involving a large group of vehicles that began on Long Wharf Drive in New Haven around 3:30 p.m.

As the group moved from Long Wharf Drive, Troop G officers saw them enter I-95 southbound via Exit 46, state police said.

The group was then spotted impeding traffic by bringing their vehicles to a complete stop across all lanes and exiting onto the highway on foot, according to state police.

As the group continued south on I-95 at a slow rate of speed across the lanes, troopers began to intervene and successfully stopped multiple vehicles, state police said.

According to state police, the leaders of the demonstration were identified as a 20-year-old Shelton resident, a 21-year-old Fairfield resident, a 23-year-old Hamden resident and a 32-year-old New Jersey resident.

All four were issued a misdemeanor summons for a charge of knowingly inciting a street race/takeover and are scheduled to appear in court on various dates in February, according to state police.
