City Employees Called Heroes For Their Actions During Oyster Fest

The Milford Department of Public Works employees jumped into action to stop what could have been a horrible accident.

MILFORD, CT – Three Milford City Employees are named heroes after saving a person from having their car roll over them during the Milford Oyster Fest.

On Saturday, Aug. 19, during the Oyster Festival, someone accidentally left their vehicle in the drive after exiting, and the car began to move, hitting a parked car, bending the door and knocking the owner to the ground under the vehicle.

Tom Hunt, Tom Nelson and Nick Gabor, city of Milford Department of Public Works employees, jumped into action to stop what could have been a horrible accident.

Hunt realized what was going on; he grabbed the driver’s door to prevent the car from rolling backward over the person. Nelson got behind the car and braced it by pushing against the trunk while Gabor jumped in the car to put it in the park.

City of Milford staff said without the thinking and actions of Hunt, Nelson and Gabor, the outcome could have been much different.

The city of Milford is fortunate to have employees who are always willing to jump into action when needed, city staff stated.

Mayor Richard Smith recognized the heroes with proclamations and thanked them for their bravery and teamwork on behalf of the entire city of Milford.
