A Seymour man was charged Monday with cruelty to animals for allegedly punching a Milford police dog several times as an officer was trying to take him into custody.
Daniel Brozak, 21, also faces charges of criminal attempt to assault a police officer, evading responsibility and failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
The charges are connected to an alleged incident on April 17 when police said Brozak fled the scene of a car accident on Rose Mill Road before crashing into a utility pole in nearby Orange.
The Seymour man was held in lieu of $10,000 bond. He is due in court July 2.
