Early Dismissal For All Milford Public Schools on Friday

MILFORD, CT – All Milford Public Schools will have an early dismissal on Friday, Sept. 8, due to the extreme heat and humidity in the area.

Early dismissal for Milford Public Schools schedule is as follows:

  • Elementary School 1:25 p.m. (including Ready to Learn),
  • Middle School 12:45 p.m.,
  • Jonathan Law High School and Joseph A Foran High School 11:58 p.m.,
  • The Academy 11 a.m.

Our area reports continue to call for higher heat and humidity on Friday. Heat index values were likely to surge into the 90-94 degree range during the late morning and early afternoon. More concerning is the expected rise in the dew point, which can cause adverse health problems when combined with extended high temperatures.

Through a release, Anna Cutaia, superintendent of schools, said there will be no afternoon preschool classes scheduled.

Cutaia said if you have a child in an after-school program in one of the schools, the childcare program will be closed.

School administration will continue with modified after-school athletic programs. Athletes will engage in low activities, wear light, loose-fitting clothing, take frequent breaks and drink extra water. Coaches will closely monitor athletes to help ensure everyone’s health during after-school activities.

Cutaia said they continue to urge students and staff to wear light, loose-fitting clothing and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated in school. All schools will allow frequent water breaks and activate cooling protocols in the buildings.
