One person was taken to a hospital.

MILFORD, CT — The Milford Fire Department said 12 people were displaced from a room house, Brismont Lodge at 79 North Street around 8:40pm Friday.

The fire department was notified through the fire alarm system in place. First arriving units met occupants outside who stated there was a fire in a bedroom and all occupants were believed to be outside, fire officials said.

One occupant sustained minor burns on his arms while attempting to remove a burning item from the room, officials said. The Milford Fire Department transported him to a local hospital.

"The fire was contained to the single bedroom, due in part to self-closing doors in place and an aggressive attack by Squad 1, however due to smoke damage, broken windows and damaged interior doors all 12 occupants were displaced. The American Red Cross was called to the scene," fire officials said.
