Freeze Watch, Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Southern CT: What To Know
Some areas of Connecticut saw its first snowflakes of the season on Wednesday.

COASTAL SECTIONS OF SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued both a freeze watch and hazardous weather outlook for the area from late Wednesday through Thursday morning.
The weather service said we can expect "Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 possible...Freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing."
The weather service added, "Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing."

Some areas, away from the coast, saw their first snowflakes Wednesday morning. The rain showers at the coast should end by early afternoon, and then we are expected to see sunny skies. Temperatures won't hit 50 degrees today.
The weather service said the total rainfall on Wednesday morning will be below a quarter of an inch.

"In addition, as drier, cooler air filters in from the north this morning, there is a chance that the rain mixes with a little wet snow well inland. No accumulation is forecast with temperatures above freezing and light precipitation. Much of the rain is over by early afternoon with spotty light rain lingering into early this evening, mainly for eastern LI and SE CT. Skies will then clear from west to east this afternoon into this evening," according to the weather service.
The weather service said to expect temperatures about 10 degrees below normal for this time of year. No precipitation is in the forecast from Wednesday afternoon through Monday. Our next rain chance appears to be on Tuesday.
