Meteorologist Leaves TV News In Order To Take Over Family Business
The TV meteorologist returned to CT and is getting ready to take over the Milford Carvel, which his father has run for 45 years.

MILFORD, CT — Former WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Kevin Arnone departed the station and Connecticut in 2018 and began a job at a local television station in South Carolina.
Five years later, Arnone has returned home, but there is a big twist. Arnone has embarked on a vastly different new career, and this one will always afford him a cold front, one might say.
Arnone is taking over the family business after his father retires from a 45-year run as the owner of the Milford Carvel at 1081 Bridgeport Ave.

"Many of you are asking what my plans are," Arnone wrote recently on social media. "I’ve received numerous messages and comments. I will not be returning to TV for now... My wife and I have officially moved back to Connecticut to raise our family where I grew up in Orange. My father (Who owns the Carvel in Milford) will be retiring in October after 45 years in business. Let’s all wish him a congratulations! I’ll be taking over the family business as he’s now training me. Come in and say hello!"
One person wrote, "This is sad, but happy at the same time. I love Mike, your dad. I definitely will pop in...This is ... wonderful news and a great new chapter in your life of continuing in your dad‘s business. I have known him since the day he took over Carvel."

Arnone announced in February that he was moving on from WISTV in Columbia, S.C. in order to begin a new chapter, which had remained unknown until now.
Arnone, in a social media post earlier this year, reflected on his 10-year run on TV news.

"If you asked me when I was 8 years old what I wanted to be when I grew up, without missing a beat I’d say “A Weather Man.” After landing my first job on TV in 2014 at WTNH in Connecticut, that little boys dream came true and continued to remain true as I switched jobs in 2018 to join the wonderful team at WIS in South Carolina.
"Over my last 10 years in the TV business, I’ve visited 100s of schools to share my weather knowledge and show the passion I have for all things weather. I would always joke with the students that weather is a hobby of mine that I just fortunately get paid for. I always tell the students I meet to chase their dreams and never let anything stop you from being who and what you want to be when you get older. Because in the end, all the hard work will be worth it.
"So after 10 years in TV doing what I love, It truly has been a dream come true but it’s time for me to close this chapter in my life and begin a new one...I just want to end by saying Thank You! Thank you for supporting me, following me and TRUSTING me with the forecast each morning. And of course, letting my dream come true," Arnone concluded in his social media post.
Arnone, who grew up in Orange, was a graduate of Amity High School and studied meteorology at Western Connecticut State University.
