Residents should take precautions and remove or protect any property in known flood areas. Take note and report any obviously blocked storm drains on roadways.

Motorists should avoid traveling during the storm if possible especially during heavy downpours. DO NOT drive through flooded areas, especially under bridges and areas too deep to see the bottom.

Although this is primarily a rain event and does not necessarily indicate an increased threat of tidal or coastal flooding, residents along the shore and near coastal flood prone areas should take precautions and be aware of the hazard. Move your vehicles to higher ground and be aware of your surroundings.

Avoid any electrical equipment that is exposed to flooded areas and call 911 if you become aware of this hazard.

Moving water presents an especially hazardous condition. DO NOT cross any flooded area on foot, especially if the water is flowing. Shallow, slow moving water can still present a significant risk to pedestrians.

The Milford Fire Department and Emergency Management personnel are on full staff in anticipation of this weather event. Questions can be directed to 203.878.5991.
