Milford Beaches Are Cleaned After Mackenzie's 15th Beach Clean-Up

MILFORD, CT – Mackenzie’s 15th and final Beach Clean-up, held on Saturday, May 6, was a success.

Hundreds of volunteers went to Walnut Beach and Silver Sands to help clean up the popular beaches for the upcoming season.

Mackenzie Powers was four years old when she became an advocate for keeping litter off the beaches.

As this was the final event for Mackenzie’s Beach Clean-up, a ceremony was held to recognize how much Powers had done for the community.

President of the Walnut Beach Association and Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce Director of Membership and Marketing Simon McDonald said after the beach clean-up, the beach areas of Devon are ready to start the summer season with a clean bill of health.

Sponsors of Mackenzie’s 15th Beach Clean-up were Milford Professional Fire Fighters Local 944, Walnut Beach Association, The Clean The Earth Project Home Depot and Garbo Grabber, who supplied their patented trash collectors.
