Milford Chamber of Commerce Announces Scholarship Recipients

Twenty-seven students received college scholarships at the annual Milford Chamber Trust scholarship presentation on Friday, May 20.

MILFORD, CT - Twenty-seven exceptional students were presented college scholarships at the annual Milford Chamber Trust scholarship presentation and State of the City luncheon, presented by the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce on Friday, May 20 at Aldario’s Restaurant.

The $23,500 in scholarship funds was provided by the Milford Chamber of Commerce Trust Fund as well as generous donations from area businesses and private donors.

The Milford Chamber Trust raises money for these scholarships through the annual BIC Golf Classic tournament. BIC Corporation is the major tournament sponsor and Kenneth E. Brannin, then-vice president of production at BIC, launched the tournament in 1997 to benefit the Milford Chamber Trust scholarships. At the time of its inception the Chamber Trust funded one $500 college scholarship. That number grew to $7,500 in 2000 and now awards more than $20,000 every year for student scholarships, with a total of $23,500 awarded in 2016.
