Milford Man Threatened To Kill U.S. Marshal: U.S. Attorney Office
The man sent the deputy marshal threatening texts, including threats to harm the deputy's family, according to the U.S. Attorney office.
MILFORD, CT — A Milford man was charged with threatening a deputy U.S. marshal and the marshal's family, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut Office.
Hamilton Smith, 57, was taken into custody Thursday. He sent a series of threatening text messages to the marshal, including threats to harm and kill the marshal and harm the marshal's family, according to the U.S. Attorney office. Smith also called the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center in Virginia and threatened to kill the deputy.
Smith was charged with making interstate threats and threatening a federal law enforcement officer. He appeared before a U.S. magistrate judge and was ordered detained pending a bond hearing scheduled for Jan. 18.
