Milford Receiving $1.3M To Support Flood Resiliency Projects

The $1.3 million will support two flood resiliency projects in Milford.

MILFORD, CT – Milford is receiving $1.3 million in state bonding to support two separate flood resiliency projects.

“This secured funding will ensure that our community will be better prepared for storms and rising sea levels along the shore,” representative Frank Smith said.

$1.216 million will go towards elevating Milford Point Road along the tidal marsh, upgrading the drainage in the area, and adding a brand-new pedestrian walkway along the scenic area overlooking Charles Wheeler Tidal Marsh, where none currently exists.

To complete a partially funded flood mitigation project at Bayview Beach, $140,000 will go towards portable pumps and pump connections.

“I am proud of all my colleagues, including Governor Ned Lamont, House Chair of the Bonding Committee Rep. Ron Napoli Jr., and Deputy Director of Policy Zoë Gluck, for their tireless work to bring these valuable funds to Milford,” Frank said. “I would also like to recognize the Deputy Director of Milford Public Works, Steve Johnson, for all his research and contributions to these projects.”
