“This measure is critically important to cities and towns like Milford,” Rep. Rose said. “This law will give back to Milford the economic incentive to include solar photovoltaic energy as part of the scope of the City’s micro grid project.”

In 2015, Milford was awarded $2.9 million by DEEP to build a micro grid at five critical facilities. The micro grid will allow City Hall, Parsons Government Center, River Park Apts., Senior Center and Harborside Middle School the ability to continue to operate and provide shelter and services to the community during times of utility grid outages and reduce the impact of future storms.

Chris Bleuher, of Schneider Electric Energy Solutions said, “Having solar power as part of the micro grid creates another level of reliability that now can be built into the overall system. Technically and economically this is a win for the City.”

The bill is headed to the governor’s desk for signing.
