New Assistant Fire Chief Sworn-In: Milford Fire Dept.

Milford Fire Department has appointed a new assistant fire chief.

MILFORD, CT – After Anthony Fabrizi took over as the Fire Chief for the Milford Fire Department, a spot was left vacant for assistant fire chief until Tuesday, Oct. 3.

Adam Hansen, Milford Fire Department PIO, said Steve Rabel has been appointed as the fire department's Assistant Chief.

Hansen said Rabel will serve as the Chief of Administration/Fire Marshall.

Starting his career in 2003 with MFD, Rabel served as a firefighter on “the West Side” until 2010, when he was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to Engine #4.

In 2019, he was promoted to Captain and served as the Department’s Training Captain and then as captain of Squad #1. Rabel was promoted to Battalion Chief in 2022, serving as BC of Finance/EMS and then as shift commander/Car 4.

Hansen said Rabel brings 23 years of experience as Deputy Fire Marshall in Derby.
