Obituary: Arthur John Gladue III

He was a family man and valued the time he spent with his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as "Pop Pop."

MILFORD, CT - Arthur John Gladue III, 61, of Milford, beloved husband of Barbara Filanowski Gladue, passed away on January 10, 2020.

Born on May 25, 1958 in Bridgeport, he was the son of Shirley Walters and the late Arthur John Gladue II.

Art loved his job as a truck driver, traveling all over the country. He was a family man and valued the time he spent with his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Pop Pop”. Art was an avid NY Giants and Rolling Stones fan. He enjoyed baking stuffed shells, being at the beach, and playing with his beloved dogs. His presence will be missed but never forgotten.

Along with his wife and mother, Art is survived by his children, Brian (Carrie Sweedler), Christopher Paul (Heather), and Arthur (Patience Deprey) Gladue, IV; grandchildren, Devin and Jared Sweedler, and Christopher and Cody Gladue; siblings, Mary, Sharon, Kathy, Deborah, and Diane; his canine companions, Eli and Nova; and many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Ricky, and sister, Linda.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 17, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary Church (Precious Blood Parish) 70 Gulf St., Milford (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 4 p.m.to 8 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad Street Milford, CT 06460. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
