Obituary: Benjamin J. Heck, 98, of Milford
Benjamin was a U.S Navy WWII veteran, worked many years as a Plant Operations Manager and was a passionate sports and hobby enthusiast.
MILFORD, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) Benjamin J. Heck, 98, of Milford was the beloved husband of Joan, father of Christine, Andrew (and wife Diane), Benjamin (and wife Lydia), grandfather of Elizabeth (and husband Peter), Michael (and wife Monica), Matthew, Nora, and great-grandfather of Jack, Eliza, and Gabriela.
Born in New York City, grew up and lived in Brooklyn, NY, later moving to Cos Cob and Milford, CT.
Veteran of World War II U.S. Navy Submarine Service, deployed to the U.S.S. Finback (recovering downed future President George H. W. Bush).
Ben was a Plant Operations Manager, designing numerous packaging machines.
After retiring, he started a successful home improvement business as a second career.
Ben was a passionate sports and hobby enthusiast to say the least! Depending on the stage of his life, there was a hobby to keep him busy.
His hobbies included golf, boating, photography, woodworking, learning a foreign language in his 60’s, traveling through Europe, and being an opera enthusiast.
He also mastered the iPhone in his 90’s and golfed until 96. More than anything, he loved to share these pastimes with his beautiful wife Joan and his family!
It’s easy to say that he lived life to the fullest.
He was always there for his family and friends. He will be missed by all, but forever remain a presence in our lives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary Church (Precious Blood Parish), 70 Gulf Street, Milford, CT 06460.
Military Honors will take place at the conclusion of mass. Ben will be buried at sea by the U.S. Navy following services.
