Obituary: Karen Cynthia Telker, 65, of Milford
Karen was well-educated, an avid gardener, traveler, nature lover and loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

MILFORD, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) Karen Cynthia Telker, 65, of Milford, beloved wife of Eugene Telker, passed away on March 15, 2022, in her home surrounded by family. Born on November 2, 1956 in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late David and Jean Korenchuk.
Karen began her career as a Registered Nurse. She received her Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University School of Law, and a Ph. D. in Naturopathy from Trinity College of Natural Health. Moreso than her academic achievements, though, her greatest pride was her family.
Karen loved spending time in nature. She spent countless weekends at her cabin in Vermont and relished the beauty and quiet. She backpacked in New Mexico, Montana and hiked The Rockies.
Caring for her pets made her happy as well as rescuing wild animals.
She was an avid gardener. She loved growing vibrant flowers and used her skills to launch The Orchard Project, her program that taught the science of harvest to the native people of the Pine Ridge Reservation.
She loved traveling to exotic places. She was a founding member of the Taruma Retreat Center, which provided well water to the Brazilian community and a school for its local children.
Karen led a faith-based life and leaves behind a well-blessed family. As for Eugene, his greatest blessing was their chance encounter at their college radio station in 1975. What began as a ride home to Milford became 43 years of loyalty and love.
Along with her husband, she leaves behind her children, Kristen Telker, Lisa (Erik) Lohmann, Kimberly Telker, Carolyn (Dan) Push, and Matthew Telker; grandchildren, Cameron Push, Parker Lohmann and Reed Lohmann; siblings, Diana, Janet, Robin (Victor), and Tracey, as well as extended family and many friends.
Family and friends may gather on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Milford Christian Church, 989 New Haven Avenue, Milford.
Burial will take place at Kings Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry Street, Milford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Connecticut Humane Society, Andrew Wommack Ministries or The Milford Christian Church.
