Obituary: Michael George Balascak, 90, of Milford
Michael, a devoted family man, was a U.S. Navy veteran and an electrician at Sikorsky Aircraft for 38 years.
MILFORD, CT - (From Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home) Michael George Balascak, age 90, beloved husband of 65 years to Shirley (Shaffer) Balascak of Milford, entered peaceful rest on August 17, 2021 at Lord Chamberlain Rehabilitation Center in Stratford.
Michael was born on June 12, 1931 in Hazleton, PA and was the son of the late George and Mary (Baron) Balascak. Mr. Balascak was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.
He was an electrician at Sikorsky Aircraft for 38 years before his retirement.
In addition to his devoted wife, Michael leaves his son, Mark Michael Balascak and his wife Kathleen Brandon and his daughter, Karen Marie Balascak all of Milford and several nieces and nephews. His siblings, George, John, Nicholas, Joseph Balascak and Helen Mercyniak predeceased him.
A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, August 20th at 12:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 100 St. John Drive, Trumbull.
Interment to follow at Union Cemetery, Stratford. A Walk-Through Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. at the GREGORY F. DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 291 BRIDGEPORT AVENUE, MILFORD.
Donations in memory of Michael can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, CT Chapter in Southington or to St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church.
