Obituary: ​Peter J. Zavidniak, 68, of Milford

MILFORD, CT - (From Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home) Peter J. Zavidniak was born March 26 1953. His father was Peter Zavidniak; Mother Sophie Dziadzia Zavidniak of Milford.

Peter attended St Mary’s Grammar school Milford and Notre Dame High School West Haven CT, before studying at Grahm Junior College in Boston, graduating in 1973 with a degree in Radio Production.

He lived in Milford and working briefly at Alexander's Department Store before being employed and retiring from Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford. Peter loved radio and music.

He is best remembered by friends and fans for his role hosting WPLR’s "Psychedelic Sunday" in the 1990s.

Pete also was lead singer for the Benders, a band in West Haven during the mid- 80s. He was a knowledgeable musicologist and collector of musical recordings.

Peter was a gentle soul, a very quiet and thoughtful man with a deliberate demeanor. Peter leaves behind several cousins and many friends.

Peter will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know and love him.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 17th at 10:00 am at the Saint Peter and Saint Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, 105 Clifton Ave, Ansonia, CT.
