Pop's Nears Move to New Spot in Milford

Restaurant hopes to be at its new location by mid-July.

Pop’s Family Restaurant hopes to make the move to its new location by mid-July.

The relocation from New Haven Avenue to Old Gate Lane is waiting on a couple OKs from the town, including a certificate of operation, says employee Virginia Kikis.

“Once we get that then we’ll be good to go,” Kikis, the oldest daughter of the owners, told Milford Patch from behind the register Wednesday.

Kikis says there will probably be a one- or two-week window from when Pop’s closes its old location and moves into its new spot across from the Edge gym.

“We hope to be closed as least as possible,” she says.

The Old Gate Lane building will be more spacious but have about the same amount of seating, Kikis says.

Asked what drove the move, Kikis says her family wanted to own the land they work on.  They currently rent the New Haven Avenue space.

Last week Milford Patch reported that another Milford landmark, Kimberly Diner, was closing because nearby Colonial Toyota had purchased the land it operates on.

The manager said he never had the opportunity to buy the property.
