Run for Water for Africa 5K in Milford on October 13th
Register to help fundraise to help an area in Africa that has been suffering from severe drought conditions.
MILFORD, CT - Join us at the scenic Walnut Beach in Milford for the 8th edition of our event - Run For Water for Africa 5K run/walk.
Our flat course has been a huge success and is designed for all abilities of runners and walkers! It is a great route for a fast run, an easy run, any walk pace you want and even good for pushing a baby stroller.
The start and finish near the Walnut Beach pavilion is located about 70 yards from the beach. Take a dip after you are done, or enjoy a nice cool down along the water. The Silver Sands boardwalk is just a two minute walk down the beach as well. There’s no shortage of beauty and scenery here!

Entertainment before and after - along with wonderful cultural items that will be for sale.
This year’s water project is in the town of Fort Portal, Uganda – an area that has been suffering greatly because of severe drought conditions. The project will provide desperately needed water to two schools servicing over 2,500 people. The need for clean water in this area is urgent! Why should kids have to walk miles to fetch dirty water when clean water can be obtained through digging of a well? Our solar pump also provides electricity.

Depending upon the amount raised this year, we want to also include the Iganga Babies Home, a wonderful orphanage that we visit each year. Last year’s fundraising brought clean, running water to over 2,000 people in Kichwamba, Uganda. See picture of the joyous faces!
As always your contributions are fully tax deductible. We are approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3)organization.
This year we are offering three events that we think will appeal to everyone. All abilities are encouraged to join in the fun.
Our 5K Run (or you can walk the 3.11 miles) is a computer timed event. Participants will need to complete the entire 3.11 mile course to be scored in results. This event offers awards to the overall male and female champions as well as age group awards.
Our NEW One mile (approx) WALK ONLY is an untimed event. Enjoy the scenic beauty of Walnut Beach and Silver Sands Park while walking at any pace from a stroll to a power walk! There are no awards for this non-competitive event.
Our kids’ fun run is FREE for 12 years of age and under only. A 1/10 mile course will be offered (parents can accompany if needed).
