Winter Weather Advisory Now Issued For Coastal Parts Of Southern CT

A winter weather advisory has now been expanded to include all the coastal towns in southern Connecticut. Here's what we can expect.

COASTAL TOWNS OF SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has just issued a winter weather advisory for coastal towns in southern Connecticut.

This now means there is a winter weather advisory for the entire state of Connecticut now.

The advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.

"Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations up to two inches and along with a glaze of ice," the weather service said. "Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thursday morning commute."

"Precipitation will begin as snow, then change to a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain during Thursday morning. Temperatures eventually rise above freezing from south to north late Thursday morning into early Thursday afternoon with any lingering precipitation in the form of rain."

Our next storm is forecast to arrive on Saturday night beginning as snow and then changing to plain rain on Sunday.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 33. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

Tonight: A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. Light and variable wind.

Thursday: Snow before 10am, then freezing rain and sleet between 10am and noon, then rain after noon. High near 37. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. East wind 6 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 36. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 42. West wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 22.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of snow after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 36.

Saturday Night: Snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain, mainly after 7pm. Low around 27. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Sunday: A 50 percent chance of rain before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 44.
