21-Year-Old Caught Shooting Up Heroin with Child in Car

Monroe police received a complaint that a Bridgeport woman was seen shooting up heroin while in her car with a young child.

MONROE, CT— Monroe Police said that a Bridgeport woman was caught shooting up heroin with a young child in the car at Goodwill Monroe. Police said Cynthia Fernandes, 21, of Bridgeport was seen at 252 Monroe Turnpike in the Goodwill parking lot on Wednesday evening.

Police received a complaint that she was observed “shooting up” with heroin while seated in her vehicle with a young child passenger in the rear. Fernandes was arrested by police after finding the empty syringe and heroin fold, they said.

Fernandes was charged with risk of injury to a minor and released on a $2,500 bond. The child was turned over to family, police said.
