MONROE, CT — The Board of Education has approved a $72.5 million spending plan for fiscal 2024-25, which includes a 7.15 percent increase, according to the Monroe Sun.

However, that final number could be reduced up to $1 million due to anticipated savings, especially in health insurance.

The biggest reason cited for the increase is that about $700,000 in federal funds is set to lapse and must now be absorbed in the regular budget, the Monroe Sun reported. The funds have helped to cover several staff positions.
