MONROE, CT — Are you curious about Connecticut's haunted past? The Nutmeg State has some of the shocking and thrilling tales of terror in the country, including the story of Anabelle, the demon possessed doll who sits in a locked case at the home of the late Ed and Lorraine Warren, renowned demonologists, in Monroe. The Warrens have worked on hauntings that have inspired the films "Annabelle," "The Conjuring," "Amityville Horror" and many more. Lorraine continues to lecture with her son-in-law.

In Easton has the tale of the woman in white,a ghost that has bene seen floating and scary visitors at Union Cemetery. And of course there is the tale of The Melonheads, a mixed breed of human with abnormally large "melon" shaped heads who have been seen in Milford, Monroe, Seymour, Weston, Oxford, Southbury, Trumbull and Shelton. Legend has itthat a group of escaped mental patients, the Melungeon, are mixed-race descendants of European outcasts, freed slaves and Native Americans who isolated themselves and haunted and killed anyone who came across their path.

Fairfield- Legends & Hauntings Walking Tour: October 28 & 29; 6 pm, Fairfield Museum and History Center, 370 Beach Rd., Fairfield. Listen to haunted legends and creepy folklore about ghosts, witches and more. Admission: $13; members $10. More info: fairfieldhistory.org.

Monroe- An Evening with Anabelle: Oct. 29. Lecture, viewing and banquet dinner on Oct. 30 with hosts Lorraine Warren and Tony Spera. Click here to register. Annabelle resides in the Warren’s occult museum in Monroe, Connecticut, in a locked glass case featuring warnings not to open the case to prevent Annabelle and her ghost from wandering the world. Two movies, “The Conjuring” (2013) and “Annabelle” (2014), are based on Annabelle’s story.

Newtown- Newtown Historical Society Ghost Walk and Candlelight Tour: Saturday, Oct 22. Join Martha Bishop as she walks Main Street and tells tales of a ghostly nature. Registration is required by emailing: register@newtownhistory.org. In conjunction with the Ghost Walk, Candlelight Tours will be given of the Matthew Curtiss House Museum by costumed docents. Location: Matthew Curtiss House, 44 Main St., Newtown, CT. Tours: 5:30 to 6:30 pm and 7 to 8 p.m. $5 per person or $15 per family is due at the event.

Norwalk- A Haunting at Mill Hill : October 21 & 22 with tours at 6, 7:30 and 9 p.m., Mill Hill Historic Park, 2 East Wall St., Norwalk. Tour the historic Mill Hill graveyard and meet mobsters, murder victims and more ghosts of Norwalk’s past. Bring a flashlight. Tickets are $18, $12 for ages 8-12. Reservations are recommended. Norwalk- Ghostly Sightings Tour: October 21-23 & 28-30 at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk. Visitors will see the Mansion’s ghosts who wander throughout the first and second floors of the Mansion. Tickets are $20 and reservations are required. More info is here: lockwoodmathewsmansion.com

Ridgefield- Ghosts of Ridgefield: October 22; 6 pm, Hemlock Hills Open Space, Ridgefield. An evening of thrills and chills is planned at the Discovery Center as 'The Ghosts of Ridgefield' make their return. Tours start at 6 p.m. and depart in groups of up to 15 people every 15 minutes.
