Eat Heavy, Monroe: Wayback Burgers Grand Opening Is Saturday

The fast food casual chain known for its double bacon burgers and "hand-dipped" milk shakes is moving into 143 Purdy Hill Road in Monroe.

MONROE, CT — Fans of eating heavy, your ship is in: Wayback Burgers is coming to Monroe.

The fast food casual chain known for its double bacon burgers and "hand-dipped" milk shakes is moving into 143 Purdy Hill Road alongside Chipotle Mexican Grill and Jersey Mike's Subs.

The restaurant will hold a grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:40 a.m.on Saturday, June 22. During the festivities, guests can enjoy a "Buy One, Get One Free Classic Burger" promotion when dining in-restaurant. There will also be entertainment, live music, and prizes given away, including Apple AirPods and a virtual reality headset.

The franchise will also present a $2,500 check to members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Naugatuck Valley. Its corporate owner is a partner of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, having raised over $1 million to date through donating a portion of the proceeds made for every burger and sandwich sold.

Wayback Burgers, now headquartered in Cheshire, opened its first location in 1991 in Delaware under the name Jake's Hamburgers. The chain became "Jake's Wayback Burgers" in 2010, then dropped the "Jake's" in 2014. There is now a Wayback in 35 states with over 170 locations nationally and internationally in Brunei, Ireland, South Africa, Japan and Canada.

Once all the ribbons are cut and champagne corks are collected, Wayback Burgers in Monroe will be open 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
