Ex-Employee Calls In Bomb Threats To 3 Aquarion Offices: Monroe PD

A man who said he was a former Aquarion employee called in bomb threats to all 3 of the water company offices. The reports proved false.

MONROE, CT — Reports of bombs placed at Aquarion Water Company offices in Monroe and Bridgeport proved to be false, according to the Monroe Police Department.

Officers from the Monroe PD responded to a report at Aquarion's 200 Monroe Turnpike office on Dec. 20 at 12:23 p.m. An Aquarion customer service representative reported receiving a phone call from a male caller claiming to have placed bombs in all three Aquarion Water Company buildings, one in Monroe, two in Bridgeport. The caller stated he was employed by Aquarion until he was laid off.

The Aquarion Water Company building in Monroe was evacuated prior to the arrival of the Monroe Police and Monroe Fire Departments. The Stamford Police Bomb Squad arrived at Aquarion and assisted in the investigation. Bomb-detecting dogs from the Stamford PD searched the building and found nothing suspicious, according to police.

Following an investigation, the Monroe Police Department identified Jamar Wade, 35, and applied for an arrest warrant.

On Dec. 29, Wade was taken into custody by the Bridgeport Police Department at his residence on Kossuth Street for the active arrest warrant held by the Monroe Police Department. Wade was taken back to the Monroe Police Department and charged with first-degree threatening and first-degree falsely reporting an incident. Unable to post the court set bond of $250,000, Wade was later taken to Bridgeport Superior Court on Jan. 2 for his arraignment.
