Fallen Tree Prompts Monroe Road Closure

MONROE, CT – Purdy Hill Road is closed this afternoon due to a fallen tree.

First Selectman Terry Rooney issued an alert at 3:12 p.m. to notify residents of the closure. The tree fell due to windy conditions, he said.

This incident occurred between Cutlers Farm Road and Old Newtown Road, according to Rooney.

Emergency services are on scene, with tree removal efforts underway. Officials have contacted Eversource to restore power, Rooney said. As of Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., Eversource reported 103 customers without power.
