Flood Warning Issued For Stevenson Dam: National Weather Service

Heavy rains are expected to continue throughout the area into Thursday.

MONROE, CT — A flood warning has been issued for Stevenson Dam in Monroe, the National Weather Service announced Wednesday afternoon.

The remnants of Ida, the hurricane that ravaged parts of Louisiana and Mississippi Tuesday, is expected to dump heavy rains throughout Connecticut on Wednesday and Thursday, which led to the Monroe warning.

Wednesday's warning went into effect at 1:30 p.m. and will remain in place until further notice, officials said.

Floodwaters could crest at 15 feet at the dam, said NWS officials, which "compares to a previous crest of 13.8 feet on 04/01/1993."
