Helicopter Sightings Possible In Monroe In Coming Months

The town is warning residents that a helicopter may be seen flying above Monroe starting in mid-October.

From First Selectman Steve Vavrek

Eversource will be installing an optical ground wire between the Stevenson Substation in Monroe, crossing through portions of Stratford, and continuing to route 110 (East Main St.) in Shelton. The optical ground wire will improve electric reliability by enabling communication between substations.

To complete the work, we will need to use a helicopter. This work is expected to begin in mid-October and is expected to be completed by the end of the year with restoration completed within the first half of 2018. We will provide more information as we get closer to the work. Impacted property owners will be notified as well.
