Kitchen Fire Damages Monroe Residence
Occupants escaped unharmed, according to fire officials.
MONROE, CT — Fire damaged the kitchen of a home on Cottage Street in the Stevenson district on Sunday.
Firefighters were summoned to the scene around 1:30 p.m. The initial report was of a fire in the kitchen, with the occupants working to get out of the house.
Upon firefighters’ arrival, everyone had already made it out safely, fire officials said.

Firefighters said they were able to extinguish the fire quickly, and the fire damage was contained to the single-family home’s kitchen area.
Firefighters brought tankers to help with their efforts, as the area doesn’t have hydrants.
