Korean War Vet's Legacy of Love, Strength & Family Lives On
Alexander John Morrissey (Pop), 82, a Monroe resident of over 40 years, died on Nov. 19.

Alexander John Morrissey (Pop), 82, of Monroe, entered into eternal peace surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 19, 2013.
Alex was born April 24, 1931 in Bridgeport to Michael and Sarah Morrissey. He married the former Caroline Piccolello on September 27, 1952. They recently celebrated 61 years of wonderful life together. Caroline was the light of his life and his family was his world.
Alex was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Caroline; his daughter Karen and husband Charles Smith of Shelton, daughter Marcelle and husband Thomas Wickson of Brookfield, son John and wife Victoria Morrissey of Lancaster, CA.
He was so proud of each and every one of his grandchildren-Amanda and Michael Smith, Laura and Danny Wickson and Megan Morrissey. He was the beloved "Irish" brother-in-law of Mary and Keith Interrante of Trumbull, Phyllis and Louis Piccolello of Huntington and Francis and Dan Piccolello of Bridgeport. The beloved uncle to several nieces and nephew.
Alex was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. He was employed as an electrician by Remington Arms in Bridgeport and retired from the former Avco Lycoming in Stratford.
Pop was an avid gardener and UConn women's basketball fan. A proud Irishman who got to see his Fighting Irish play football at Notre Dame. One of his greatest pleasures in life was hosting Christmas Eve at his home in Monroe for over 40 years for his family. He will be missed but his legacy of love, strength and family will be in our hearts forever. La Familia.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, November 24 from 4-8pm at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe.
Monsignor Sabia will officiate the Funeral Mass at St. Jude's Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe on Monday, November 25 at 10am. Our beloved Pop will be laid to rest at St. John's Cemetery, Monroe.
