Monroe Baker Fundraises to Make Holidays Brighter for the Less Fortunate
Food pantry volunteer takes it upon herself after learning about the limitations of outreach food banks can provide.

A local woman who volunteers at the Monroe food pantry has learned that even the nicest ideas are not possible, but did not let that stop her.
Sara Simpson, a passionate baker who gives back to her community via donating her time and energy to the food bank, has started a fundraising goal to buy pies for the food bank to hand out with other meals given to the less fortunate.
Simpson wanted to hand-bake pies for the food pantry to hand out, but learned that they could not accept homemade donations, according to the Monroe Courier.

Not letting this stop her, she priced out how much it would cost to buy the pies outright in order to donate, then set a donation goal to make it possible. Simpson needs to raise $1,000 in order to reach her goal and make this kind deed come true.
The Monroe Courier reports Simpson has already started to receive donations, but the exact amount is not known. She hopes to raise $700 within the next month.

Donations and raffle entries can be dropped off at Simpson’s office at Coldwell Banker in Newtown on 45 South Main St. All of this will assist her in going above and beyond for the less fortunate this Thanksgiving.
