Monroe To Become New Home To One Of Bridgeport's Popular Spots: Report
Testo's was a Bridgeport fixture for nearly five decades before closing in 2022.

MONROE, CT — Testo's Restaurant & Catering, the legendary Bridgeport restaurant that closed in 2022, is moving a couple of towns north to Monroe, to take over the site that formerly housed Roberto's, the Connecticut Post reported.
Ralph Giacobbe, owner of Testo's, told the publication that he's reopening the restaurant, because he not only missed his customers but also missed the business overall.
Testo's was a Bridgeport fixture for nearly 50 years, its last 16 years in the city's North End at 1775 Madison Ave. The site was razed in 2023 to make room for a residential housing complex.

The city's Democratic leaders made the restaurant the party's unofficial headquarters for years, in large part because it was founded by Bridgeport Democratic Town Committee Chair Mario Testa.
Testo's in Monroe could open by May 1, reportedly depending on how the renovations go. Giacobbe even teased the restaurant's return in a Facebook post in late December.

Where the old Testo's was a Bridgeport institution, Giacobbe reportedly plans a more Monroe-centered place in the new town.
