Monroe Doughnut Inn Allegedly Bans 4-Year-Old for Being Impolite

Owners have yet to respond to allegations that a child was barred from their shop for being rude.

A Monroe bakery, Doughnut Inn, has been accused of banning a 4-year-old boy for being rude to other customers. The doughnut shop has yet to issue any official comment on the incident, however a post on their Facebook page stirred a flurry of responses.

Rebecca Denham and her son, who say they’re regulars at the shop, were asked not to come back after the child allegedly asked another customer if she was pregnant, according to an interview with WFSB News.

The woman informed the 4-year-old that she was not pregnant, the boy reportedly apologized and nothing more came of it at first, according to the report.

The next day, Denham was told her son was not allowed in the store.

The owners of Doughnut Inn have yet to return requests for comment, however an administrator on their Facebook page posted a comment saying the WFSB report “is not an accurate description of the incident that occurred and does not provide vital information about the customer which initiated Doughnut Inn asking politely if she could not return.”

After a number of angry readers commented on the post, the admin responded, calling the commenters “ignorant and immoral,” adding that employees have been receiving hate calls since the original story was reported.

“I can’t in good conscience apologize [because] we don’t discriminate against preschoolers,” they wrote. Addressing the commenters, “I really don’t mean it in a snotty way but we know who our customers are at this point and none of them are any of you.”

The Facebook page is no longer public but a screen capture of the original post is included above.
