Monroe Man Illegally Owned Gun: Police

Police say the man shot the weapon in a residential area.

MONROE, CT — An Elm Street man was arrested Wednesday after police said he fired a weapon in a residential area that he was owning illegally, according to an announcement from Monroe Police. Marcus Bonaparte, 21, of Monroe was arrested after a person found a gun in his home and called police.

Bonaparte was not allowed to own weapons due to previous convictions and being the subject of a protective order. Police were later told that Bonaparte had fired the undocumented weapon in a residential area.

He was charged with criminal possession of a pistol/revolver, criminal use of a firearm or electronic defense weapon, reckless endangerment in the first degree and criminal violation of a protective order. He was held on a $5,000 bond.
